Enjoy Art In the Port Austin Area

The Port Austin area has become a destination for art enthusiasts as well as artists & musicians looking for a change of pace on the shores of Lake Huron and its surrounding natural landscape. We’re here to support and encourage the growth of the arts in the area and help make this fantastic place even better.

Our largest project, in collaboration with 53North, is a collection of local barns reimagined by renowned artists. This is an ongoing project with three barns completed so far, but we hope to bring new life to ten barns when all is said and done. These barns are outside the village limits, but not too far. We even have mapped a bike route for those who with to take a two wheeled adventure in the countryside. Learn More

Another interesting installation is our Inside | Out gallery. It originated as an effort by the Detroit Institute of Arts to bring museum quality replications of famous artworks to outdoor spaces for more people to enjoy as a pop-up experience. We decided we’d like to have our own permanent collection, so in 2016, we purchased several pieces from the DIA and we display a selection of them each year throughout the Village of Port Austin.
